It screenwriter believes a Pennywise spin-off film is a possibility

November 22, 2019 by Liam Waddington

After the release of two films directed by Andy Muschietti which adapted the beloved Stephen King novel, It screenwriter Gary Dauberman believes there is a possibility for future spin-offs based upon the mythology of Pennywise the Dancing Clown.

“I do think it’s possible,” Dauberman shared with ComicBookMovie. “Anything in the Stephen King Universe interests me but there’s only so much of the story we could tell in the two movies. There are definitely elements of the novel you could expand on and make its own movie. It’s just a question of whether or not people want to see it but I do think It was on this planet for a very, very, very long time and that’s a lot of bloodshed and a lot of stories to tell and I think you could do that for sure.”

Dauberman is not the only one that believes there is a chance to explore further stories in this universe, director Andy Muschietti teased in an interview with io9 that a spin-off could be developed in the future.

“Mythology is something that always has opportunities to explore. It has been on Earth for millions of years. He’s been in contact with humans for hundreds of years, every 27 years. So you can imagine the amount of material,” Muschietti said.

Do you think there is a chance that we could see a spin-off movie that expands the mythology of Pennywise? Is that a film you would like to see? Let us know in the comments below or tweet us @flickeringmyth…
