Exclusive Interviews – The Boys Season 2 Cast and Crew

September 4, 2020 by Tai Freligh

Tai Freligh interviews the cast and crew of The Boys Season 2…

The Boys, on Amazon Prime Video, is an irreverent take on what happens when superheroes, who are as popular as celebrities, as influential as politicians and as revered as Gods, abuse their superpowers rather than use them for good.

Showrunner Eric Kripke along with members of the cast, including Karl Urban, Jack Quaid, Antony Starr, Erin Moriarty, Aya Cash, Jessie T. Usher, Karen Fukuhara, Laz Alonso, Chace Crawford and Tomer Capon, were all made available to answer press questions about the upcoming second season of the very popular Amazon show, The Boys. Tai Freligh attended the Zoom junket and asked the following questions on behalf of Flickering Myth:

Eric Kripke (Showrunner) – The original comic book started at DC, but then moved to a different publisher because they were uncomfortable with the controversial subject matter.  Having your show on Amazon seems to have given you the leeway to push the limits.  Given that, is there anything that Amazon has said is off limits?

Jack Quaid (Hughie) & Erin Moriarty (Annie/Starlight) – In the graphic novels, Hughie and Starlight end up dating and engaged before trouble swoops in.  Do you think Hughie and Annie will ever end up together on the show?

Giancarlo Esposito (Stan Edgar) – Can you talk about the scene where you put Homelander in his place, not only as actor to actor, but as your two characters?  On another note, what do you think your character ultimately wants to achieve?

Anthony Starr (Homelander) & Aya Cash (Stormfront) – In season two I would describe your relationship with Stormfront as petulant child to her arrogant teenager.  Toni, would you say that’s accurate and is that how you’re playing it?

Karen Fukuhara (The Female) & Tomer Capon (Frenchie) – Do you think Frenchie will ever get the girl AKA the Female?

Karl Urban (Butcher) & Laz Alonso (Mother’s Milk) – Karl, in the comic books, your wife dies after giving birth to a super baby (Homelander being the father after raping her) and Butcher ends up killing the child.  What do you think of the twist in storytelling from the comic books to the television show in terms of your wife and child surviving?

Listen to the full interview here…

On the run from the law, hunted by the Supes, the Boys desperately try to regroup and fight back against Vought in a more intense, more insane Season 2. In hiding, Hughie (Jack Quaid), Mother’s Milk (Laz Alonso), Frenchie (Tomer Capon) and Kimiko (Karen Fukuhara) try to adjust to a new normal with Butcher (Karl Urban) nowhere to be found. Meanwhile, Starlight (Erin Moriarty) must navigate her place in The Seven as Homelander (Antony Starr) sets his sights on taking complete control. His power is threatened with the addition of Stormfront (Aya Cash), a social media savvy new Supe, who has an agenda of her own.  On top of that, the Supervillain threat takes center stage and makes waves as Vought seeks to capitalize on the nation’s paranoia.

The Supes of The Seven also include Queen Maeve (Dominique McElligott), A-Train (Jessie T. Usher), The Deep (Chace Crawford) and Black Noir (Nathan Mitchell). Recurring stars include Claudia Doumit, Goran Visnijc, Malcolm Barrett, Colby Minifie, Shantel VanSanten, Cameron Crovetti, Laila Robbins and Giancarlo Esposito returning as Vought boss Stan Edgar, among others.

We thank everybody for taking the time to chat with us about the second season of The Boys and look forward to the global premiere on Prime Video September 4th of the first three episodes, with new episodes weekly after that through October 9th.
