The Suicide Squad script had Joel Kinnaman laughing out loud

September 17, 2020 by Samuel Brace

James Gunn’s The Suicide Squad script apparently had star Joel Kinnaman laughing out loud.

The hype is certainly building for James Gunn’s DC movie debut with The Suicide Squad. And why not, his work with Marvel on Guardians of the Galaxy has earned him lots of admirers so DC fans are looking forward to more of the same.

We have seen some promotional images and a character reveal video so far and it looks like it’s going to be a good time. Joel Kinnaman, who stars in the film as Rick Flag, has also teased the film’s comedic flavour.

Speaking to CBR, the actor said: “It was such a treat, and such an incredible experience to work with James Gunn. And his vision for The Suicide Squad, it was so good. And when I got the script sent to me, it’s so funny. Like every page made me laugh. I was sitting at home reading it laughing out loud.”

Hopefully, the laughs translate well from script to screen. If Guardians of the Galaxy is anything to go by, they certainly should. The Suicide Squad is definitely a movie to keep your eye on.

The Suicide Squad sees James Gunn directing a cast that includes Suicide Squad returnees Margot Robbie (Harley Quinn), Jai Courtney (Captain Boomerang), Joel Kinnaman (Rick Flag) and Viola Davis (Amanda Waller) as well as new DCEU additions Idris Elba, Peter Capaldi, Alice Braga, Nathan Fillion, Taika Waititi, Jennifer Holland, David Dastmalchian, Joaquín Cosío, Mayling Ng, Flula Borg, Juan Diego Botto, Storm Reid, John Cena, Pete Davidson, Tinashe Kajese, Daniela Melchior, Julio Ruiz, Steve Agee, Michael Rooker, and Sean Gunn.
