Justin Lin releases astonishing F9: The Fast Saga behind-the-scenes video

February 9, 2021 by Matt Rodgers

The film and sports worlds collide every Super Bowl Sunday as the major studios release the latest looks at their upcoming blockbusters, and while it was exciting to see more of Vin Diesel grunting about “family” during a rapidly cut look at F9: The Fast Saga, it seems that something altogether more impressive has been tweeted by director Justin Lin.

In the wake of the Super Bowl spot, Lin, who will also be directing the tenth installment of the franchise, released a behind-the-scenes clip focusing on a spectacular 4 second shot in which Michelle Rodriguez’s Letty Ortiz flies through a shop window, and it’s arguably more mind-blowing than the finished footage. Take a look at the vehicular madness and let us know what you think using our social channels @FlickeringMyth…

One 4 second shot in #F9. 8 months of prep. 4 days of production. 3 cars destroyed. Work from over a hundred of the most dedicated and talented crew. Best job in the world! pic.twitter.com/QK4wNYvAhE

— Justin Lin (@justinlin) February 7, 2021

Vin Diesel’s Dom Toretto is leading a quiet life off the grid with Letty and his son, little Brian, but they know that danger always lurks just over their peaceful horizon. This time, that threat will force Dom to confront the sins of his past if he’s going to save those he loves most. His crew joins together to stop a world-shattering plot led by the most skilled assassin and high-performance driver they’ve ever encountered: a man who also happens to be Dom’s forsaken brother, Jakob (John Cena, the upcoming The Suicide Squad).

The action hurtles around the globe—from London to Tokyo, from Central America to Edinburgh, and from a secret bunker in Azerbaijan to the teeming streets of Tbilisi. Along the way, old friends will be resurrected, old foes will return, history will be rewritten, and the true meaning of family will be tested like never before.

Fast & Furious 9 sees Justin Lin directing series veterans Vin Diesel, Michelle Rodriguez, Tyrese Gibson, Jordana Brewster, Nathalie Emmanuel, Chris ‘Ludacris’ Bridges, Sung Kang, Charlize Theron and Helen Mirren, along with franchise newcomers John Cena (Bumblebee), Finn Cole (Peaky Blinders), Anna Sawai (Ninja Assassin), Vinnie Bennett (Ghost in the Shell), Michael Rooker (Guardians of the Galaxy), Cardi B (Hustlers), MMA fighter Francis Ngannou, and singer Ozuna.
