Tom Cavanagh and Carlos Valdes exiting The Flash, Jessica Parker Kennedy returning for 150th episode

May 5, 2021 by EJ Moreno

Two original cast members of The Flash will soon be departing Central City as Deadline has revealed that both Carlos Valdes and Tom Cavanagh are exiting the long-running superhero series after the seventh season.

Cavanagh has played a host of different characters, most centered around scientist Harrison Wells and his various alternate incarnations. He also starred in the series as the villainous Eobard Thawne. Valdes started The Flash as a tech for S.T.A.R. Labs named Cisco Ramon but soon became the hero known as Vibe.

Reports indicate that Cavanagh was initially set to leave the series after Season 6 but stayed to wrap up storylines and has since been billed as a special guest star. Valdes, on the other hand, will remain a series regular until the Season 7 finale.

In a statement, showrunner Eric Wallace promised the door is still open for both actors to return: “Tom and Carlos have been an integral part of our show for seven seasons and will be greatly missed. Both are incredible talents who created beloved characters that fans and audiences around the world have come to love. Which is why we are happily keeping the door open for return appearances.”

Meanwhile, in other Flash news, Entertainment Weekly is reporting that Jessica Parker Kennedy is set to make her return as Nora Allen-West/XS for multiple episodes of the series, including its landmark 150th episode.

The (future) daughter of Grant Gustin’s Barry Allen and Candice Patton’s Iris West, Kennedy made her debut in season four of The Flash, and the last we saw her was in the season five finale when she was erased from the timeline. As yet, there’s no word as to how she’ll return for this guest run.

The Flash airs on The CW on Tuesdays, and was renewed for an eighth season back in February.
