Free social retro gaming platform Piepacker now in open beta

Piepacker is a brand-new multiplayer social gaming platform currently in open beta that allows gamers to play fully licensed retro games online, even with friends completely free.  There’s a wealth of games already on the platform from a variety of retro systems and from a number of publishers.

Piepacker started on kickstarter with a small-ish target of $75,000, which it reached in just 20 hours.  The campaign went on to raise a whopping $220,000 proving that the retro scene is extremely popular.

The games available to play are from a number of different platforms, including NES, SNES, Saturn, Mega Drive, NeoGeo and PlayStation with partnerships with the likes of Codemasters, Team 17 and Interplay, plus indie developers like Bitmap Bureau or Morphcat.

There’s 60 games currently available to play with more to come.  The current catalogue includes:
