Amazon Studios have set a release date for George Clooney’s next directorial outing The Tender Bar, and backed it up with a first look image featuring Ben Affleck (The Last Duel) and Tye Sheridan (Ready Player One).
Deadline reveal that the film will hit cinemas in limited release on December 17th, before opening nationwide on December 22nd. The Tender Bar will then be available globally for streaming via Amazon Prime Video on January 7th.
Adapted from J.R. Moehringer’s memoir of the same name by The Departed‘s William Monahan, The Tender Bar tells the story of a boy (Tye Sheridan) growing up in Long Island who seeks out father figures among the patrons at his uncle Charlie’s (Affleck) bar. As his mother struggles to provide her son with opportunities denied to her—and to leave the rundown home of her father — he begins to pursue his romantic and professional dreams.
Clooney’s follow-up to The Midnight Sky has a cast as impressive as his Netflix space drama, with Lily Rabe and (American Horror Story) and Christopher Lloyd (Back to the Future) also among the credits.
