Arnold Schwarzenegger provides update on Triplets and his True Lies-inspired Netflix series F.U.B.A.R.

March 8, 2022 by Matt Rodgers

Following the desperately sad news of Ivan Reitman’s death last month, Arnold Schwarzenegger has provided fans with an update on the duo’s long-gestating Twins sequel Triplets, and what the legendary directors passing would mean for the recently announced comedy, telling them that “we just wait a little bit until this whole thing cools down and then we’re gonna readdress it”.

TheArnoldFans website reported that it was during an appearance at the Arnold Sports Festival in Columbus, Ohio that the iconic actor gave an update on Triplets, which had recently cast Tracy Morgan as the 33-year in the making sibling and had been enthused about by Reitman. Schwarzenegger said “We had a little setback because the man that was suppose to direct it, who directed the first one, Twins,  Ivan Reitman had passed away sadly to say. And so, you know now that we just wait a little bit until this whole thing cools down and then we’re gonna readdress it. But that’s a project suppose to be filmed in October and so it could still be you know, but we just have to now look into a different director and just get into and to see if we are going to continue with this project.”

The Ghostbusters helmer had told Deadline in September last year that Triplets was based on the fact that “Secretly, there was a third baby born, a Black baby, who hasn’t been in touch with his siblings. They don’t know each other and very early in the movie they meet and it’s how they achieve a bond together after all these years. It’s really a film about family and, no matter how different we all are, we have to learn to get along. These guys have great chemistry together, and you can see that in the reel, and how much energy they bring out in each other.”

Schwarzenegger also revealed that he was starting pre-production on his Netflix True Lies inspired series, which is now titled F.U.B.A.R., and begins shooting this April. The Terminator actor said “It’s a TV series based on True Lies. So, I’m a secret agent, my family doesn’t know that I am a secret agent, but as the story develops, I don’t know that my own daughter, that I thought is a peace core worker overseas, is also actually a secret agent and she doesn’t know I’m a secret agent and I don’t know that she is a secret agent. So, it’s kind of comedy and action all combined like True Lies.”

Whether or not Triplets ever materialises, at least we’re definitely getting some more Arnie action with F.U.B.A.R.. Let us know what you think of this story by heading to our social channel to continue the discussion @FlickeringMyth…
