Michael B. Jordan and Jonathan Majors prepare to fight in first look posters for Creed III

October 17, 2022 by Matt Rodgers

MGM and Warner Bros. have begun the the long ring walk towards Creed III‘s March 23, 2023 release date by releasing two first look posters featuring the headline stars in opposite corners of the ring. In one we find Michael B. Jordan’s titular Adonis Creed, and in the other is his next opponent and nemesis, played by The Last Black Man in San Francisco and Ant-Man and the Wasp: Quantumania‘s Jonathan Majors.

As you can see from the poster, this ninth installment in the Rocky franchise will be the first entry without Sylvester Stallone, either in the ring or as coach and mentor to Jordan’s Creed, but the sequel will reunite him with the returning Tessa Thompson and Phylicia Rashad.

Creed III will mark the directorial debut of Michael B. Jordan, who will work from a script written by Zach Baylin and Keenan Coogler, brother of the director of the first Creed movie, Ryan Coogler.

2015’s Creed earned rave-reviews and $173 million at the worldwide box-office for a franchise many thought had thrown its last punch. Three years later Creed II did even better, bringing Dolph Lundgren’s Rocky IV favourite Ivan Drago back into the series, and collecting $214 million in the process.

Will you be subscribing to pay-per-view or simply tuning into the final result? Let us know what you think the prospects for Creed III are by heading to our social channels @FlickeringMyth…

It’ll be seconds out round three when Creed III hits cinemas on March 23rd, 2023.
