Black Panther: Wakanda Forever closes in on $550 million at the worldwide box office

After two weekends in cinemas, Marvel Studios’ final feature film offering of 2022 has passed the half billion dollar mark at the worldwide box office, with Black Panther: Wakanda Forever retaining top spot both domestically and internationally as it pushes its global cume towards $550 million.

In North America, Wakanda Forever dropped 62% from its opening weekend but still amassed $67.3 million, taking its domestic haul to $288 million. An additional $69.8 from 50 international markets took the film’s overseas total to $258.3 million for a total haul of $546.3 million and counting.

Wakanda Forever currently stands as the eighth biggest film of the year behind the Chinese hit The Battle at Lake Changjin II. For comparison, Thor: Love and Thunder sits ins sixth on $760.9 million, with Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness falling just short of the billion dollar club with $955.8 million in third place.

In Marvel Studios’ “Black Panther: Wakanda Forever,” Queen Ramonda (Angela Bassett), Shuri (Letitia Wright), M’Baku (Winston Duke),Okoye (Danai Gurira) and the Dora Milaje (including Florence Kasumba), fight to protect their nation from intervening world powers in the wake of King T’Challa’s death. As the Wakandans strive to embrace their next chapter, the heroes must band together with the help of War Dog Nakia (Lupita Nyong’o) and Everett Ross (Martin Freeman) and forge a new path for the kingdom of Wakanda.

Black Panther: Wakanda Forever reunites Ryan Coogler with his Black Panther stars Danai Gurira (Okoye), Letitia Wright (Shuri), Winston Duke (M’Baku), Lupita Nyong’o (Nakia), Florence Kasumba (Ayo), Angela Bassett (Ramonda) and Martin Freeman (Everett Ross), while new additions include Dominique Thorne as Riri Williams/Ironheart, Tenoch Huerta as Namor, Michaela Coel as Aneka, Mabel Cadena as Namora and Alex Livanalli as Attuma.
