Daniel Craig joins Luca Guadagnino’s Queer adaptation

December 11, 2022 by EJ Moreno

Daniel Craig is an actor never afraid of taking on a tough acting gig. Now the actor will team up with one of the best directors working together, as Craig joins Luca Guadagnino’s Queer.

Queer is an adaptation of William S. Burroughs’s 1985 novel, written between 1951 and 1953. As per Deadline, the film follows “Lee, who recounts his life in Mexico City among American expatriate college students and bar owners surviving on part-time jobs and GI Bill benefits. Lee is self-conscious, insecure, and driven to pursue a young man named Allerton, based on Adelbert Lewis Marker (1930-1998), a recently discharged American Navy serviceman from Jacksonville, FL, who befriended Burroughs in Mexico City.”

Luca Guadagnino will helm the project, seeing Justin Kuritzkes write the adaptation. Guadagnino is currently in the process of raising financing for Queer. The filmmaker is quite busy, as he recently released his awards contender Bones And All [read our review here] and is in early development on an Audrey Hepburn biopic with Rooney Mara. We could see Guadagnino heading towards another awards season if the film does come together.

Daniel Craig is also having quite the moment; he’s coming off the massive No Time To Die and heading into this year’s hit film Glass Onion: A Knives Out Mystery [read our review here].

Queer marks the first time Craig and Guadagnino have worked together and could become the dream team no one expected.
