The Santa Clauses renewed for another season at Disney+

December 15, 2022 by EJ Moreno

A Christmas treat comes with more Santa Clause adventures at Disney+.

The streamer has renewed The Santa Clauses for a second season. Tim Allen and Elizabeth Mitchell will return, who are again reprising their roles as Mr. and Mrs. Claus.

The Santa Clauses saw Allen return as Scott Clavin, who was preparing for his 65th birthday and thinking about the future of being Ol’ Saint Nick. During season one, he searched for his replacement and returned to the holiday joy that brought fans to the original The Santa Claus movies.

Ayo Davis, president of Disney Branded Television, expressed joy about the upcoming second season and the success of the first outing. “This franchise has had a lasting impact for so many families, truly becoming part of their annual holiday traditions,” says Davis. “Bringing it back as a series has been a true gift, and I’m grateful to our producing partners at 20th Television and, of course, Tim Allen and team, that we have yet another reason to celebrate this holiday season.”

Tim Allen starred in the original The Santa Clause back in 1994. He followed up the film with two sequels: The Santa Clause 2 (2002) and The Santa Clause 3: The Escape Clause (2006). The limited follow-up series The Santa Clauses premiered November 16th of this year.

“The series will pick up with Scott Calvin on the brink of his 65th birthday and realizing that he can’t be Santa forever. He’s starting to lose a step in his Santa duties, and more importantly, he’s got a family who could benefit from a life in the normal world, especially his two kids who have grown up at the Pole. With a lot of elves, children, and family to please, Scott sets out to find a suitable replacement Santa while preparing his family for a new adventure in a life south of the pole.”

Along with Tim Allen, The Santa Clauses also sees the return of Elizabeth Mitchell as Carol/Mrs. Claus and David Krumholtz as Bernard the Elf, alongside franchise newcomers Austin Kane, Elizabeth Allen Dick, Kal Penn, Rupali Redd, Devin Bright, and Matilda Lawler.

The Santa Clauses Season 1 is currently streaming on Disney+.
