Disney’s The Little Mermaid teaser trailer features first look at Prince Eric and Ursula

February 19, 2023 by Amie Cranswick

Walt Disney Studios has released a new teaser for the live-action reimagining of the animated classic The Little Mermaid, which gives us another look at Halle Bailey’s Ariel performing ‘Part of Your World’ and a first peek at Jonah Hauer-King as Prince Eric and Melissa McCarthy as the villainous sea witch Ursula; watch it below…

“The Little Mermaid” is the beloved story of Ariel, a beautiful and spirited young mermaid with a thirst for adventure. The youngest of King Triton’s daughters, and the most defiant, Ariel longs to find out more about the world beyond the sea, and while visiting the surface, falls for the dashing Prince Eric. While mermaids are forbidden to interact with humans, Ariel must follow her heart. She makes a deal with the evil sea witch, Ursula, which gives her a chance to experience life on land, but ultimately places her life – and her father’s crown – in jeopardy.

The Little Mermaid is being directed by Rob Marshall (Mary Poppins Returns) from a script by David Magee (Finding Neverland) and will star Halle Bailey (Grown-ish) as Ariel, Jonah Hauer-King (Little Women) as Prince Eric, Melissa McCarthy (Can You Ever Forgive Me?) as Ursula, Awkwafina (Crazy Rich Asians) as Scuttle, Jacob Tremblay (The Predator) as Flounder, Daveed Diggs (Blindspotting) as Sebastian and Javier Bardem (Everybody Knows) as King Triton.

The Little Mermaid is set for release on May 26th, 2023.
