The Farrelly Brothers reunite with Jack Black for dark comedy Dear Santa

March 18, 2023 by EJ Moreno

Jack Black goes Christmas, but with a devilish twist.

Deadline reports that Black will team with The Farrelly Brothers, reuniting after 2001’s Shallow Hal, for a new film called Dear Santa. The movie centers on a young boy who, in writing his yearly note to Santa, mixes up the letters and sends it to Satan instead.

Bobby Farrelly will helm the film, with the current working draft of the script coming from the Farrellys and Ricky Blitt, with the original idea from Dan Ewen.

The team-up between Jack Black and The Farrelly Brothers paid off well in the early 00s, making Shallow Hal not only a box-office hit but receive strong reviews at the time and a cult-like following.

Deadline notes, “the three having been looking for the right project and, after the brothers had finished this script, the siblings felt Black was the perfect person to star in it.”

Joining the film alongside Black is Robert Timothy Smith, with a supporting cast that includes Keegan-Michael Key, Brianne Howey, Hayes MacArthur, PJ Byrne, newcomer Jaden Carson Baker, Kai Cech, and Austin Post (Post Malone).

In recent weeks, Black teased the project, posting a photo of him posing with Christmas decorations without context on social media. Check out the post below…
