Journey through the imagination of Jules Verne with Verne: The Shape of Fantasy

August 16, 2023 by Andrew Newton

PC gamers can hop into the worlds of Jules Verne in Assemble Entertainment and developer Gametopia’s narrative adventure Verne: The Shape of Fantasy.  Currently available from Steam and GOG, Verne: The Shape of Fantasy will have players join Jules Verne as he seeks out the mysterious source of Atlantis’ power.

Verne: The Shape of Fantasy whisks players away to an alternate 1888 where they will join Jules Verne in trying to stop a war against the vicious ‘Nation’ that is threatening to destroy the land of Hemera.  Joined by Captain Nemo and his crew, players will set off in search of a powerful ancient artefact rumoured to be able to change the course of history.

Throughout the adventure there will be plenty of curious puzzles to solve, and should things not go according to plan, players will be able to make use of Verne’s IMAG device, which will allow them to rewrite history.

Featuring:

  • Journey through a wide range of environments in a pixel art, steampunk-esque world.
  • Meet a cast of characters and chat with them through non-linear dialogues.
  • Solve puzzles and enjoy side scrolling gameplay inspired by old-school adventures games.
  • Discover and master the ancient Atlantean device, the IMAG and help Verne rewrite his story.

Verne: The Shape of Fantasy is available now on PC via Steam and GOG, priced £12.79/€14.99.
