2025’s Festival of the Lost brings horror to Destiny 2

October 22, 2025 by Andrew Newton

It’s that time of year again in Destiny 2 , as the annual Festival of the Lost in-game event is once again underway. Running until 11th November, this year’s event will introduce two new haunting activities for PvE and PvP, as well as a huge haul of rewards and Halloween-themed masks.

The new Haunted Altars PvE activity will have Guardians joining together to fend off the tides of Darkness in a six-player matchmade experience set on the Moon. Through intense combat, players will collect sweet treats, fortify their defences, and defeat the menacing Headless Ones to get plenty of exciting new rewards.

For those who like to take on fellow Guardians, there’s the new Red Rum(ble) PvP mode. This reimagined Rumble mode will have six players fighting against each other. There are surprising twists to each kill, and the occasional explosive pumpkin and surprise Headless Ones to provide an extra challenge.

A masked Eva Levante will guide players on their journey into this year’s challenges, and with the Eerie Engrams offering gear drops above players’ current Power level, the rewards are much more worth the fight.

The candy collected as rewards can be spent to unleash the potential of the Haunted Mask by unlocking event cosmetics and mods. There are also three weapons that stand out as ones to collect, the Gunburn Kinetic Submachine Gun, Hushed Whisper Strand Bow, and last year’s Arcane Embrace Arc Shotgun. These will be available as rare, bright green holofoil variants.

Celebrate Destiny 2’s Festival of the Lost event now. Destiny 2 fans can also celebrate the season with a sale on the Bungie Store running until 11th November, providing plenty of offers on items.
