Patch 40.40 arrives for zombie survival title Project Zomboid

December 13, 2018 by Andrew Newton

Patch 40.40 has arrived for indie developer The Indie Stone’s hugely popular Project Zomboid.  This final patch for build 40 provides some new features to make things a little easier, changes to some aspects of the game and provides bug fixes for some of the annoying glitches.

In this recent patch the developers have improved the night visuals adding indoor masking to colour exterior when inside.  This means that interiors are no longer affected by climate colouring.  On the subject of colouring, climate colours have been split into exterior (shader) and interior (mask) variations, plus a config file has been added to initialise colours.  Finally, a debug panel has been added to edit climate colours in-game.

Many changes have been made in this latest patch, these include:

  • Highly reduced odds of breaking a windows when trying to remove it at level 10 carpentry.
  • Can now somehow sleep on a piano seat.
  • Double doors are now shown in red if trying to build inside a building.
  • Made it possible to disassemble many more items, including: fridges, ovens, more chairs, washing machines, lockers, fitness equipment, metal barrels and some missing shelves.
  • Added chance of success in the disassemble context option tooltip.
  • Adjusted ambient, rendersettings and shader to fix flash/street/car lights.
  • Added minimum values for rain and snow, a very low value as it sometimes looked patterny.
  • Changed darkness so it’s more variable during weather.
  • Added dither circle to weathermask
  • Saucepan can now be used to disinfect bandages.
  • Added missing textures for fractured bones. You now can’t splint a chest.
  • Updated Translations.

There’s many bug fixes that niggle players and many of these have been fixed in this patch.  For a full list of the fixes visit the developer’s forum here.
