WWII base builder Ground of Aces launches on Steam Early Access

July 10, 2025 by Andrew Newton

Blindflug Studios has released their WWII base building strategy game Ground of Aces onto Steam Early Access. This release invites players to become the commander of a British air base during the Battle of Britain, a pivotal moment of WWII. A new launch trailer can be seen below…

Arriving on the 85th anniversary of the Battle of Britain, Ground of Aces is a base building strategy that highlights the challenges that were faced by air bases and the personnel during the Second World War. Players are tasked with building up their base, defending it from German attacks and managing their aircrews and aircraft. It also challenges players to manage critical missions to help the war effort.

This Early Access version features the British Royal Air Force as the first of the playable factions in the game and provides 14 iconic British aircraft, including the Avro Lancaster bomber and the Supermarine Spitfire, that players can use for missions and to defend their base. Further development will expand the game’s scope and depth.

Players will lay out their base to their own choosing, allowing each base layout to be unique. There are numerous structures that can be constructed, such as barracks, hangers and control towers. With each mission, it will be up to players to select the right planes, it’s no good selecting all fighters for a bombing run. Planes must also be maintained and ready to take off at a moments notice.

Each pilot is also more than just a mindless and replaceable NPC, every person has their own personality, their own story and are shaped by the war as it progresses. Yes, there will be losses but every person matters.

Ground of Aces is available now on Steam with a 10% discount until 24th July.
