Classic RTS remaster Outlive 25 launches demo for Steam Next Fest

October 14, 2025 by Andrew Newton

Continuum Entertainment and CriticalLeap have announced the launch of a demo of their classic RTS remaster Outlive 25 as part of the Steam Next Fest. Available until 20th October, this demo will feature a standalone campaign that serves as a prologue to the events of the three main campaigns, as well as a tutorial so players can become accustomed to the genre. There’s also a nice little teaser trailer that can be seen below….

Outlive 25 is a remaster of the classic 2000 RTS game created by Continuum Entertainment that challenged players to determine the fate of the Earth between two factions, Humans and Robots, across three epic story campaigns. In a future where machines have turned against their creators, players will make a play for world domination through base building, terrain exploration, and unleashing devastating attacks on the enemy faction.

The remastered version of the game will feature enhanced graphics and sound, while maintaining all the charm of the original. It will also feature an updated Campaign Editor that will allow players to create and share their own maps, missions, and even full campaigns. There will also be options to use custom event scripting to generate controlled actions, as well as be able to design your own game modes.

As well as the three campaigns, players can also take part in massive battles with with up to 16 players simultaneously where they will create alliances, form armies and crush their opponents. There’s also the opportunity for players to test their skills against Outlive 25’s advanced AI in memorable battles, plus with customisable unit AI, players can choose what to focus on.

Featuring:

  • Upgrade units and improve building efficiency with a deep research tree.
  • Scout enemy bases, carry out covert missions and intercept missiles.
  • Automate unit behaviours to give more opportunity to focus on your strategy.
  • Use diplomacy to forge alliances with other forces.

Outlive 25’s demo is available on Steam now, with the full game launching later this year.
