Destiny 2’s Star Wars-inspired expansion Renegades launches with cinematic trailer

December 2, 2025 by Andrew Newton

Bungie has announced the launch of Renegades, the second expansion in the Year of Prophecy for Destiny 2. Inspired by Star Wars and developed in collaboration with Lucasfilm Games, this new expansion blends Destiny 2’s combat and storytelling with elements from one of the world’s most beloved sci-fi franchises. Watch the latest trailer below…

Renegades will have Guardians start their journey as part of a crew of underdogs that rise to challenge the powerful Barant Imperium, who are suspected of being connected to the Nine. Players will forge alliances with new and returning characters while developing their influence and power in the underworld through a new social hub – the Tharsis Outpost on Mars.

Players will be able to take on a variety of high-risk, high-reward jobs, such as Smuggling, Bounty Hunts, and Sabotage, across six new maps set on Venus, Europa, and Mars, all of which have been inspired by iconic Star Wars locations.

There are three different factions that players will be able to develop their reputation with, and there are different Renegade Abilities available throughout the campaign that players can unlock and upgrade. There is also a new selection of weapons and equipment available, including the Star Wars-inspired Praxic Blade that looks like a Lightsabre, the Praxic Vestment Titan Chest, and the new weapon archetype, Blasters.

On 13th December, the new dungeon, Equilibrium, will arrive for players who own Destiny 2: Renegades. In this dungeon, players will work alongside Praxic Order Warlock Aunor Mahal to infiltrate a Barant Imperium warship and hunt down acolytes of Dredgen Bael.

Destiny 2: Renegades is available now.
