Kiefer Sutherland is heading back to the small screen to play the President of the United States in Designated Survivor, a new conspiracy thriller from David Guggenheim (Safe House), which has been given a straight-to-series order from ABC.
According to Deadline, Designated Survivor sees “a lower level United States Cabinet member (Sutherland) suddenly appointed President after a catastrophic attack during the State of the Union kills everyone above him in the Presidential line of succession.”
Guggenheim and Sutherland are set to executive produce the series alongside Simon Kinberg (X-Men: Days of Future Past), while the Mark Gordon Company will produce alongside ABC Studios.
