Academy Awards shortlists for Best Visual Effects and Best Makeup & Hairstyling Oscars revealed

After revealing a longlist of twenty films earlier in the month, the Academy of Motion Picture Arts and Sciences has announced that ten films remain in contention for a nomination for Best Visual Effects at the 90th Academy Awards. Vying for one of the five nomination slots are:

Alien: Covenant
Blade Runner 2049
Dunkirk
Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 2
Kong: Skull Island
Okja
The Shape of Water
Star Wars: The Last Jedi
Valerian and the City of a Thousand Planets
War for the Planet of the Apes

Meanwhile, the Academy has also announced seven films in the running for Best Makeup & Hairstyling, which will be narrowed down to three when the final nominations are announced…

Darkest Hour
Ghost in the Shell
Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 2
I, Tonya
Victoria & Abdul
Wonder
