We have not seen the REAL Groot yet, says Vin Diesel

April 28, 2017 by Jordan Jones

Groot was one of the most lovable characters in James Gunn’s Guardians of the Galaxy. The gentle giant stole fans hearts when the movie premiered, and has continued that trend as the adorable Baby Groot in Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 2. It seems that Groot is a creature of many faces, and Vin Diesel doesn’t think that we have seen the coolest one yet. Speaking to USA Today, Vin Diesel promised fans that we have not seen anything yet:

“The first Groot we saw was a freshman in college. This [Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 2] Groot is in nursery school. Wait ’til we see the fully-fledged working-man Groot. Wait ’til we see GROOT!“

As a non-reader of the comic, it will be interesting to see what grown-up Groot looks like. In the meantime, here is a picture of Groot from the comics:

Definitely a far-cry from the Groot we know and love! We will have to wait until Avengers: Infinity War or perhaps even Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 3 to see what Vin Diesel is teasing.

Set to the backdrop of ‘Awesome Mixtape #2,’ Marvel’s Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 2 continues the team’s adventures as they traverse the outer reaches of the cosmos. The Guardians must fight to keep their newfound family together as they unravel the mysteries of Peter Quill’s true parentage. Old foes become new allies and fan-favorite characters from the classic comics will come to our heroes’ aid as the Marvel cinematic universe continues to expand.

Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 2 is scheduled for release on April 28th 2017 in the UK and on May 5th in the States, with director James Gunn reuniting with returning cast members Chris Pratt (Star-Lord), Zoe Saldana (Gamora), Dave Bautista (Drax), Bradley Cooper (Rocket), Vin Diesel (Groot), Karen Gillan (Nebula), Michael Rooker (Yondu), Glenn Close (Nova Prime), Sean Gunn (Kraglin) and Laura Haddock (Meredith Quill) alongside new additions Pom Klementieff (Oldboy) as Mantis, Elizabeth Debicki (The Man from U.N.C.L.E.) as Ayesha, Kurt Russell (The Hateful Eight) as Ego the Living Planet, Chris Sullivan (The Drop) as Taserface, Tommy Flanagan (Sons of Anarchy) as Tullk and Sylvester Stallone (Creed) as Stakar.
