Action roguelite Demon Spore sets July release date with new animated trailer

Null games and Dino Boss have announced a July launch date for their 80’s horror inspired action roguelite Demon Spore. Accompanying this announcement is a new animated trailer (see below) that provides the backstory for the origin of the titular Demon Spore.

Gamers who have been won over by the game’s playable demo on Steam may also have the opportunity to take part in closed playtests for hands-on online co-op ahead of the game’s launch. Those interested will have to keep an eye open for more details and dates announced in the future.

Demon Spore takes players to a genetics research laboratory where scientists have been tinkering with nature to create a new food source. Unfortunately, this experiment has gone wildly out of control causing an expanding mass of flesh and tentacles to spread throughout the facility consuming everyone who gets in its way. Taking the role of one of the few survivors, players must scavenge the maze of rooms and corridors for tools and makeshift weapons, including beakers of acid, scalpel launchers and shotguns, that will help in ensuring their continued survival.

As players progress they will be able to use security tokens that can be used to manipulate the Demon Spore and collect powerful abilities that will aid them on their escape to the rooftop.

Demon Spore features:

  • Strike back at the mass of flesh using experimental weapons, including a tesla coil gun and plasma cannon.
  • Loot the lab for equipment to increase damage, boost speed, resist acid and more.
  • Investigate the outbreak by discovering voice memos left by fleeing scientists.
  • Gain medical help or ammo from lab technicians and rescue terrified staff members to unlock that character.
  • Multiple playable characters with unique equipment perks.
  • Use security computers to lock down areas or flames to burn the creature and create new escape routes.
  • Each attempt brings a different lab layout and different equipment.

Look out for Demon Spore arriving this July.
