Marvel’s Agent Carter producer discusses original Season 3 story plans

July 19, 2018 by Gary Collinson

While the chances of a third season of Marvel’s Agent Carter look remote at this point – particularly as Hayley Atwell has recently stated that she’d be “kind of tentative” about reprising the role – show writer and producer Jose Molina has teased where the story could have gone next, had ABC not decided to swing the axe on the Captain America spinoff.

“If memory serves, the initial thrust was going to come from the investigation into the assassination attempt on Jack Thompson,” Molina tells Den of Geek. “We were hoping (assuming we could afford it) that the story would then lead us to London, where we would learn that Peggy’s late brother Michael was not only alive and kicking, but involved in some very nefarious, super-villainous shenanigans.”

Molina also went on to share his thoughts about a possible Netflix revival, stating: “It would be lovely to think that Netflix (home to so many awesome Marvel shows) would pick it up, but their shows all share a common universe and timeline that Carter doesn’t share. Creatively, these shows tend to be very dark, and Agent Carter just doesn’t have dark and brooding in its DNA.”

Molina certainly makes a good point about the tone of the Netflix Marvel shows being out of sync with Agent Carter. However, with female heroes all the rage at the moment, perhaps the show is something Marvel could look to revive on Disney’s upcoming streaming service at some point in the future?
