Aladdin’s Mena Massoud hasn’t had any auditions since the film came out

December 5, 2019 by Samuel Brace

Mena Massoud, the star of Disney’s live-action Aladdin movie, hasn’t had a single audition since the film came out.

One would think when you star in a billion-dollar grossing hit for Disney that things around Hollywood might start happening for you but with the case of Aladdin star Mena Massoud this has not turned out to be the case.

In a shocking reveal, the actor has told The Daily Beast that he has not had one audition since the film arrived in cinemas: “I’m kind of tired of staying quiet about it. I want people to know that it’s not always dandelions and roses when you’re doing something like Aladdin. ‘He must have made millions. He must be getting all these offers.’ It’s none of those things. I haven’t had a single audition since Aladdin came out.”

It must be a frustrating state of affairs for the actor but it just goes to show what a difficult and competitive industry this is, even for stars of billion-dollar grossing smash hit movies.

A thrilling and vibrant live-action adaptation of Disney’s animated classic, “Aladdin” is the exciting tale of the charming street rat Aladdin, the courageous and self-determined Princess Jasmine and the Genie who may be the key to their future.

Aladdin is directed by Guy Ritchie (King Arthur: Legend of the Sword) and features a cast that includes Mena Massoud (Aladdin), Naomi Scott (Princess Jasmine), Will Smith (Genie), Marwan Kenzari (Jafar), Navid Negahban (The Sultan), Nasim Pedrad (Dalia), Billy Magnussen (Prince Anders), Numan Acar (Hakim), Alan Tudyk (Iago) and Frank Welker (Abu).
