Alexandra Daddario joins Baywatch as female lead

November 18, 2015 by Gary Collinson

Originally published November 18, 2015. Updated April 15, 2018.

Director Seth Gordon’s upcoming Baywatch movie has found its female lead, with Deadline reporting that Alexandra Daddario has joined the cast of the film alongside Dwayne Johnson and Zac Efron. The actress will play the female lead Summer, a lifeguard and love interest to Efron’s character.

Earlier this month, it was revealed that San Andreas star Daddario was on a shortlist of actresses that also included Ashley Benson (Pretty Little Liars), Nina Dobrev (Vampire Diaries), Alexandra Shipp (X-Men: Apocalypse), Shelley Hennig (Teen Wolf), Bianca Santos (The Duff) and Denyse Tontz (Big Time Rush).

The Baywatch movie will see The Rock as a by-the-book lifeguard forced to team with a young, rule-flouting hothead as they try to save the beach from environmental destruction at the hands of an oil tycoon.
