Amazon picks up Star Trek: Picard for international distribution

May 15, 2019 by Gary Collinson

CBS All Access’ upcoming Star Trek: Picard series has secured international distribution, but unlike Star Trek: Discovery, the Patrick Stewart show won’t be available to Netflix subscribers.

Both CBS and Amazon have announced that the series, set some 20 years after Star Trek: The Next Generation, has been picked up internationally by Amazon Prime, with new episodes set to premiere within 24 hours of their U.S. broadcast in over 200 countries.

The as-yet-untitled series is expected to premiere towards the end of the year, and sees Stewart joined in the cast by Santiago Cabera (Salvation), Michelle Hurd (Blindspot), Alison Pill (The Newsroom), Harry Treadaway (Mr. Mercedes), Isa Briones (Takers) and Evan Evagora (Fantasy Island).
