Andy Serkis assisting Mark Ruffalo with mo-cap work on The Hulk in Avengers: Age of Ultron

May 1, 2014 by Gary Collinson

It seems that Mark Ruffalo will be getting a little help when it comes to his performance capture work as The Incredible Hulk for Avengers: Age of Ultron, with Ruffalo revealing via Twitter that he’s working with Andy Serkis on his realisation of the Green Goliath in Joss Whedon’s hotly-anticipated sequel.

Serkis of course has plenty of experience with motion-capture, having performed as Gollum in The Lord of the Rings and The Hobbit, as well as the title role in King Kong,  Captain Haddock in The Adventures of Tintin: The Secret of the Unicorn, the ape leader Caesar in Rise of the Planet of the Apes and the upcoming sequel Dawn of the Planet of the Apes. Serkis is also in demand at the moment, having recently signed on to make his directorial debut with The Jungle Book, as well as securing a part in J.J. Abrams’ Star Wars: Episode VII.

Avengers: Age of Ultron is shooting now ahead of a release on April 24th 2015 in the UK and May 1st 2015 in North America, with a cast that sees Marvel veterans Robert Downey Jr. (Iron Man), Chris Evans (Captain America), Chris Hemsworth (Thor), Mark Ruffalo (The Incredible Hulk), Jeremy Renner (Hawkeye), Scarlett Johansson (Black Widow), Don Cheadle (War Machine), Cobie Smulders (Maria Hill), Samuel L. Jackson (Nick Fury) and Paul Bettany (JARVIS / The Vision) joined in the cast by new additions Aaron Taylor-Johnson (Kick-Ass 2) as Quicksilver, Elizabeth Olsen (Oldboy) as the Scarlet Witch, James Spader (The Blacklist) as Ultron, and Thomas Kretschmann (Dracula) as Baron Strucker.
