Annapurna Pictures no longer involved with Terminator: Genesis

January 24, 2014 by admin

The Terminator franchise is one that’s mostly forgotten since its glory days of The Terminator and Terminator 2: Judgement Day; perhaps that’s why several compaies were involved with the resurrection of said franchise with the anticipated Terminator: Genesis reboot.

Well, until recently that is, as Megan Ellison’s Annapurna Pictures has now dropped out of the project, leaving it to Skydance Productions and Paramount Pictures to continue funding and producing it.

The project did seem a little out of the ordinary for Annapurna Pictures to be involved with in the first place. This is what Megan Ellison told Deadline regarding her stance on the project:

‘We have been working closely with the filmmakers and have the utmost faith in their abilities. We love this project and the direction it is going in, but for now Annapurna’s primary focus is to produce independent films. As I am staying on as executive producer, I am looking forward to working closely with David and Paramount to make a film that will live up to the brands’ legacy and one that I know audiences will love.’

The film is still on track, with Jason Clarke (Zero Dark Thirty) playing revolutionary hero John Connor and Emilia Clarke (Game of Thrones) set to play his mother Sarah Connor. Alan Taylor (Thor: The Dark World) is set to direct, with the film expected in July 2015.
