Earlier in the week it was reported that the first trailer for Warner Bros. and DC Films’ next superhero offering Aquaman would be with us this week, but unfortunately we’ve still got a while to wait as director James Wan has now revealed via Twitter that it will be released during the DC panel at next month’s San Diego Comic-Con International.
We did however get a look at the updated logo for the undersea adventure…
The San Diego Comic-Con runs between July 19th and July 22nd, with Warner Bros.’ panel presumably set to take place on Saturday, July 21st. If rumours are to be believed, the presentation will also showcase Shazam and Wonder Woman 1984, as well as unveiling a “rebranding” of the DCEU with a new name and logo, and confirmation of the future plans for the universe.
Although we haven’t got to see the Aquaman trailer this week, we have had several images, including shots of Aquaman (Jason Momoa), Mera (Amber Heard), Ocean Master (Patrick Wilson) and Queen Atlanna (Nicole Kidman) [see here], a first glimpse of Yahya Abdul Mateen II’s Black Manta [see here], and a rather awesome shot of two Atlantean armies facing off, complete with great white sharks and sea dragon cavalry [see here].
Arthur Curry learns that he is the heir to the underwater kingdom of Atlantis, and must step forward to lead his people and to be a hero to the world.
Aquaman is directed by James Wan (The Conjuring) and stars Jason Momoa as the titular hero, reprising his role from Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice and Justice League, along with Amber Heard as Mera, Patrick Wilson as Ocean Master, Willem Dafoe as Dr. Vulko, Yahya Abdul-Mateen II as Black Manta, Dolph Lundgren as King Nereus, Nicole Kidman as Atlanna, Temuera Morrison as Tom Curry, Ludi Lin as Murk, Michael Beach as Jesse Kane, Randall Park as Otis Dhanji as a young Arthur Curry and Graham McTavish in an as-yet-unrevealed role.
