Arrow season 7 adds Shadowhunters’ Katherine McNamara in pivotal role

According to TV Line, Shadowhunters actress Katherine McNamara has joined the cast of The CW’s DC superhero show Arrow for its upcoming seventh season.

McNamara is set for what is described as “a pivotal recurring role” in the first half of the season, where she will portray Maya, a scrappy street fighter and thief from Star City who was dubbed as ‘Buffy the Superhero Slayer’ in an unofficial casting notice.

Arrow has already added a number of new cast members for season seven, including Holly Elissa (Supernatural), Miranda Edwards (The Magicians), Michael Jonsson (Van Helsing). Colton Haynes also returns as a series regular, reprising his role as Roy Harper.

Arrow season 7 is set to premiere on October 15th.
