Arrow’s Stephen Amell says he won’t be in Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice

July 4, 2014 by James Garcia

Many fans of the CW’s Arrow were hopeful that star Stephen Amell would show up as Green Arrow in Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice, and someday join the Justice League. However, according to Amell himself, such a crossover is not happening, and he won’t be joining the likes of Superman, Batman, Wonder Woman, Aquaman and Cyborg on the big screen.

A few days ago Amell posted something on his Facebook page about “winning” Comic-Con with some good news, which fans of course took to mean that he would be announcing his involvement in Batman V Superman or Justice League. However, he himself has denied those rumors, and took to Facebook to say:

“I appreciate all the support and enthusiasm, but not everything I post is a cryptic indicator that I’m going to be in Batman V Superman. I’m not going to be in Batman V Superman. The next time that I either do a video or an interview with a journalist that I like, I’ll be happy to explain why this is the case. Short form – it’s not a barometer on ability or quality of the genre – TV V Film, no pun intended. Everything here boils down to logistics. In any event… thank you for how much support you’ve showed me. But keep in mind, playing Arrow on television isn’t a consolation prize. We play the definitive versions of our characters in the DC Universe.”

So, there we have it. We’ve often speculated whether or not the DC film and TV universes would be connected, but judging by Amell’s comments, they will remain separate entities.

What do you think of this? Are you disappointed to hear that Stephen Amell won’t be donning the green jacket or working the salmon ladder next to Batman and Superman? Let us know in the comments…
