Atari announces the Intellivision Sprint retro gaming console

October 17, 2025 by Andrew Newton

In celebration of the 45th anniversary of the Intellivision, Atari has announced the Intellivision Sprint, a brand-new console with 45 classic games from the original console’s lifespan, as well as a wealth of technical upgrades. The Intellivision Sprint is available to pre-order now and set to launch this December. Watch the new announcement trailer below to see more…

Back in 1980 the arrival of the Intellivision sparked the start of the First Console War with the Atari 2600. This wasn’t as big a war as the later Commodore 64 vs ZX Spectrum, at least not in the UK, but it was a legendary rivalry that many veteran gamers still remember.

This December, in collaboration with PLAION REPLAI, Atari will bring us the Intellivision Sprint, with the original’s gold and black surface and wood grain front.

The Intellivision Sprint includes modern features that gamers will appreciate, such as two wireless controllers, HDMI output, two controller overlays for each game, and a USB-A port for library expansion. But the most important thing is the addition of 45 games, with classics like Star Strike, Thunder Castle, Shark! Shark!, Thin Ice and Boulder Dash…
