Atomfall trailer teases a post-apocalyptic Lake District

March 20, 2025 by Andrew Newton

With the release of Atomfall just a few more days away, Rebellion has revealed the new pre-launch trailer that asks the question of “What truth lies beneath?”.  The new trailer (see below) also offers a glimpse at the different environments and some of the people to encounter in this quarantined zone.

Inspired by the real life Windscale nuclear incident in the 1950s, Atomfall takes players on a fictionalised adventure into a radioactive quarantine zone.  Where they are tasked with solving the mystery of what happened at the nearby nuclear power station.  To uncover this mystery and escape the quarantine zone, players will need to navigate military encampments, explore abandoned, underground bunkers and investigate the pagan ruins.

Players will be able to explore the area, chat with the friendlier locals and fight the not-so-friendly inhabitants in order to solve a mystery that has been inspired by a wealth of classic British sci-fi, including The Quatermass Experiment, The Day of the Triffids and classic Doctor Who.  As players explore the quarantine zone, they may also notice other science fiction references, as well as influences from folk lore and the Cold War.

Featuring:

  • A single player survival-action game in a dark and foreboding world.
  • Explore a wide variety of environments and locations and meet the inhabitants of this quarantined region.
  • A range of ranged and melee combat to fight those inhabitants that aren’t so friendly.
  • Craft items and weapons, search ruined houses for supplies and even unearth buried treasures with the metal detector.
  • Develop your character through interactions with NPCs, light RPG elements and using skill trees.

Look out for Atomfall arriving on PC and consoles on 27th March.  Standard and Deluxe editions are also available to pre-order.
