Auli’i Cravalho cast in NBC’s Drama High pilot

February 28, 2017 by Ricky Church

After stunning audiences with her performance of Moana‘s ‘How Far I’ll Go’ during the Academy Awards presentation, Deadline is reporting Auli’i Cravalho will make her TV debut in NBC’s pilot of Drama High, produced by Friday Night Light‘s Jason Katims and Hamilton producer Jeffery Seller.

The series will be based on Michael Sokolove’s book of the same name, detailing the life of drama teacher Lou Volpe. Sokolove was a former student of Volpe. Drama High will be about “an extraordinary working-class high school drama department and the incredible students who come alive under a passionate teacher and family man whose dedication to the program galvanizes the entire town”. Cravalho will play Lilette, a drama student, in the show.

Cravahlo made her big-screen debut in Moana, voicing the lead character as she journeyed with a demigod to save her home and the ocean from a terrible spirit. Dwayne Johnson starred opposite her as Maui, the shapeshifting, trickster demigod who is forced to help Moana on her quest.
