Avatar sequels set for 2020, 2021, 2024 and 2025

April 22, 2017 by Gary Collinson

Now that James Cameron has completed the scripts for his four Avatar sequels and is gearing up to go into production on the hugely ambitious undertaking, 20th Century Fox and Lightstorm Entertainment have announced new release dates for Avatar 2, Avatar 3, Avatar 4 and Avatar 5.

“Great to be working with the best team in the business,” reads the announcement on the official Avatar Facebook page. “Avatar takes flight as we begin concurrent production on four sequels. The journey continues December 18, 2020, December 17, 2021, December 20, 2024 and December 19, 2025!”

In addition to the announcement, we also got an image of James Cameron alongside the crew…

Details on the Avatar sequels are scarce, but they will see the return of original cast members Sam Worthington, Zoe Saldana, Stephen Lang and Sigourney Weaver, while Worthington has said Avatar 2 is “a movie about family.”
