Ben Affleck endorses Robert Pattinson as The Batman, wants to see the Snyder Cut of Justice League

February 25, 2020 by Amie Cranswick

Having revealed earlier this month that he decided to step down from The Batman due to the toll the troubled Justice League production took on him, Ben Affleck has now shared some praise for his successor under the cape and cowl, Robert Pattinson.

“I think Robert’s a great actor, he’s gonna be great,” said Affleck in an interview with Jake Hamilton, during which he once again shared a few comments Justice League, and him lending his support to the #ReleaseTheSnyderCut campaign pushing Warner Bros. to release director Zack Snyder’s original vision for the DC team-up.

“I didn’t know about [the social media campaign],” he admitted. “Zack was like, ‘Hey, they are doing this thing.’ And I said, ‘Zack, I love you, and I support you. However I can help you.’ I do think that movie, you know, having two directors is a very weird thing. And for Justice League, the director had a family tragedy. And so you have a kind of cow’s body with a horse’s head a little bit with two directors a lot of times, for better or for worse. I do think Zack’s cut should be available.”

As yet, there’s been no indication from Warner Bros. whatsoever that a Snyder Cut of Justice League will be made available, although the filmmaker himself has recently urged fans not to lose hope that it may yet see the light of day.

The Batman sees Robert Pattinson (The Lighthouse) donning the cape and cowl as Bruce Wayne/Batman alongside Zoe Kravitz (Big Little Lies) as Selina Kyle/Catwoman, Colin Farrell (Fantastic Beasts and Where to Find Them) as Oswald Cobblepot/The Penguin, Paul Dano (Escape at Dannemora) as Edward Nashton/The Riddler, Jeffrey Wright (Westworld) as Jim Gordon, Andy Serkis (War for the Planet of the Apes) as Alfred Pennyworth, John Turturro (The Big Lebowski) as Carmine Falcone, Alex Ferns (Chernobyl) as Commissioner Pete Savage, Con O’Neill (Ordinary Lies) as Chief Mackenzie Bock, Peter Sarsgaard (The Killing) as Gotham D.A. Gil Colson and Jayme Lawson (Farewell Amor) as Bella Real.
