Following on from the casting of Brianne Howey (Scream Queens), TV Line is reporting that Fox’s pilot for The Exorcist has found two priests, with Ben Daniels (House of Cards) and Alfonso Herrera (Sense8) signing on to potential series.
Daniels will play Father Marcus, “the intense holy warrior carrying out an occupation that the church no longer acknowledges in public,” while Herrera has been cast as Father Tomas, “the warm, selfless and compassionate leader of a small but hearty little church.”
The one-hour drama is described as a “modern reimagning” of William Peter Blatty’s 1971 novel and has been written by Jeremy Slater (The Lazarus Project, Fantastic Four), with Rupert Wyatt (Rise of the Planet of the Apes) set to direct.
