The Blacklist Season 2 – Episode 2 Review

October 4, 2014 by Gary Collinson

David Fleming reviews the second episode of The Blacklist season 2…

This weeks episode takes us from America to Poland and back with non stop action all the way. A small seemingly normal bank in Warsaw is hit by a professional team, but there is something not quite straight forward about the heist. Red fills us in that the bank in question is the main laundry for countless warlords and criminals the world over. The bank has been rigorously checked by government officials more than once and the books are completely clean, so how do they do it?

Meanwhile back in the US, Red’s ex-wife is still being held captive by Berlin who believes that Red killed his daughter. She does her best to make things as difficult as possible for Berlin, and shows us that she may have learned a thing a two from Red when they were married., but she really isn’t a match for him. Berlin continues to send Red pieces of his ex-wife with Red receiving a nicely packaged tooth.

Locating and freeing Naomi (his ex-wife) is still not going very well for Red, but he has a plan (as usual). With news of the bank heist in Warsaw, Red decides it’s time to send Lizzy and Ressler to Poland to investigate. As usual Red has ulterior motives for helping the FBI and makes his move when he needs to, but finds himself slightly out maneuvered by Lizzy who needs to make a decision that could put Red in direct danger.

We get some nice twists, a frantic chase and some great action in Poland – this show simply won’t rest on it’s laurels, which is great for the viewer. It keeps on bringing satisfying episodes that tell their own story as well as adding more interest, questions and weight to the ever unfolding story arc. As much as Berlin looks set to remain a thorn in Redington’s side for some time, we now have the distinct feeling that someone else, out of view of both Berlin and Red is pulling strings and orchestrating the animosity between these two.

The episode was another triumph and seeing what comes next is exciting as always!
