Blake Lively to star in The Age of Adaline

October 17, 2013 by admin

The Age of Adaline finally seems to be forming, after months of rumoured casts and directors. Gabriele Muccino (Pursuit of Happiness, Seven Pounds) was once penned to fill the role of director, along with Katherine Heigl (Knocked Up) set to play the eponymous Adaline, but that’s changed once again.

Now blonde bombshell Blake Lively (Savages) seems set to play the title lead, with Ellen Burstyn (Requiem for a Dream) attached as her daughter (yes, you read that right). Acclaimed independent director Lee Toland Krieger (Celeste and Jesse Forever) is also rumoured to take position in the director chair.

The film follows twenty-something Adaline who is rendered immortal after an accident, who then chooses to live her life in solitude as a result. She sets out on a spiritual journey to find herself, as she bumps into a man who may be worth risking her immortality for. It seems a logical assumption that this new found romance will cost Adaline her agelessness, and turn her mortal.

Usually this kind of movie finds itself on the indie circuit, shown at Cannes and Sundance, but Lionsgate is set to release the film, which implies it’ll certainly reach cinemas. That’s all we know for now, but Lee Toland Krieger knows his delicate and romantic cinema, and just maybe it’ll prove Blake Lively as a legitimate female lead, as she certainly already has the looks.
