Bond 25 director denies reports of on set “mutiny”

June 23, 2019 by Amie Cranswick

It’s certainly fair to say that Bond 25 isn’t having the smoothest of journeys to the big screen. We’ve seen director shake-ups, release date shifts, entire scripts tossed out, on-set rewrites, accidents, injuries (and even an explosion, though thankfully no one was hurt), leading to reports that crew members are describing the shoot as “a well-polished shit show”.

Another concerning rumour surfaced this past week courtesy of British rag The Sun, which claimed director Cary Joji Fukunaga held up filming due to a marathon PlayStation 4 gaming session, leaving the crew on the verge of mutiny after they were forced to work late in order to make up for missed time.

This has seemingly irked Fukunaga, with the filmmaker taking to Instagram to deny the allegations:

“There’s not a minute on this job that isn’t scheduled, and even during a shoot day, in the hours before call, between takes and setups, and after we wrap there’s always a line of dedicated and hardworking department heads hungry to prep our next sequences, no one sleeps on this kind of job.

“So sure it’s hard, but it’s still the best job in the world and I’d never disrespect the hardest working cast and crew. We’re all in this together. As for my PS4 relationship, if my RDR2 progress is any indication, it’s been stunted at 63% for months and if anyone spoils the end for me before I wrap on B25 I’m going to be pissed.”

Bond 25 is slated to hit cinemas in April 2020… assuming Rockstar Games doesn’t drop a huge Red Dead Redemption 2 DLC expansion any time soon.

Bond has left active service and is enjoying a tranquil life in Jamaica.  His peace is short-lived when his old friend Felix Leiter from the CIA turns up asking for help. The mission to rescue a kidnapped scientist turns out to be far more treacherous than expected, leading Bond onto the trail of a mysterious villain armed with dangerous new technology.

Bond 25 is set for release in the UK on April 3rd 2020 and in the U.S. on April 8th 2020 and stars Daniel Craig (James Bond), Ralph Fiennes (M), Naomie Harris (Moneypenny), Rory Kinnear (Tanner), Léa Seydoux (Madeleine Swann), Ben Whishaw (Q) and Jeffrey Wright (Felix Leiter), while new additions include Rami Malek (Bohemian Rhapsody), Ana de Armas (Blade Runner 2049), Lashana Lynch (Captain Marvel), Billy Magnussen (Velvet Buzzsaw), Dali Benssalah (A Faithful Man) and David Dencik (Top of the Lake).
