Bourne 5 and Mission: Impossible 5 get new screenwriters

May 10, 2014 by Gary Collinson

The fifth instalments of two blockbuster spy series are both set for rewrites, with reports emerging that Andrew Baldwin (Logan’s Run) has signed on to replace Anthony Peckham (Sherlock Holmes) on Universal’s as-yet-untitled sequel to The Bourne Legacy, while Will Staples (Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 3) will take over from Drew Pearce (Iron Man 3) on Mission: Impossible 5.

The fifth Bourne movie will see Jeremy Renner returning as Aaron Cross, with Justin Lin (Fast & Furious) attached to direct the film for a projected August 2015 release date. Meanwhile Mission: Impossible 5 will reunite Tom Cruise with Jack Reacher helmer Christopher McQuarrie, and is also set to feature returning stars Renner and Simon Pegg. M:I-5 is currently slated to hit cinemas on Christmas Day, 2015.
