Bridgerton’s young Queen Charlotte prequel series announces cast

March 31, 2022 by Ricky Church

Just days after Netflix premiered the second season of their hit series Bridgerton, the full cast for the streamer’s upcoming prequel spin-off focusing on Queen Charlotte’s rise to power has been announced.

In the still to be titled series, the Bridgerton prequel will be a limited series telling “the story of how the young Queen’s marriage to King George sparked both a great love story and a societal shift, creating the world of the Ton inherited by the characters in Bridgerton.” Series creator Shonda Rhimes will write the limited series.

Leading the series as the young Queen Charlotte is India Amarteifio (Line of Duty). “Betrothed to the mysterious King of England against her will, Charlotte arrives in London only to realize she was not exactly what the royals were expecting. As she learns to navigate the palace, the ‘ton and her unpredictable husband, she grows into one of Europe’s most unforgettable monarchs.” Golda Rosheuvel portrays Charlotte in the original Bridgerton.

Michelle Fairley (Game of Thrones) is Princess Augusta. “Determined to maintain her family’s power, the Dowager Princess does what it takes to secure her son’s place as monarch amidst a changing, modernizing Britain.”

Corey Mylchreest (Sandman) is Young King George. “Handsome, charismatic, and a bit of a mystery, George has always bowed to the restraints placed on him as the Crown. Until now. Having to share his space, and bed, with his new wife forces George to face his hidden demons head-on.”

Arsema Thomas makes her first television role as Young Agatha Danbury, played by Adjoa Andoh in Bridgerton. “Under the thumb of a much older husband, Agatha uses Charlotte’s arrival to find her own way into society. With keen knowledge of the once divided social scene and the intricacies of marriage, Agatha becomes a guiding light for the new Queen, all while finding her own voice and power we’ll soon recognize as Bridgerton’s iconic Lady Danbury.”

In addition to the new cast, Bridgerton‘s Golda Rosheuvel, Adjoa Andoh, Ruth Gemmell and Hugh Sachs will reprise their roles as Queen Charlotte, Lady Agatha Danbury, Lady Violet Bridgerton and Brimsley respectively in the limited series.

Duty, desire and scandal collide when Viscount Anthony Bridgerton decides to marry, only to meet his match in his intended bride’s headstrong big sister.

Bridgerton season 2 features a cast that includes Jonathan Bailey, Simone Ashley, Charithra Chandran, Phoebe Dynevor, Ruth Gemmell,  Claudia Jessie, Luke Thompson, Adjoa Andoh, Shelley Conn, Lorraine Ashbourne, Harriet Cains, Bessie Carter, Florence Hunt, Martins Imhangbe, Calam Lynch, Luke Newton, Will Tilston, Polly Walker, and Rupert Young.
