Brie Larson feels a “great responsibility” playing Captain Marvel

February 13, 2017 by Robert Kojder

Captain Marvel is a big deal. It doesn’t just introduce another female superhero to the fold, but rather is the first female-centric superhero film in the Marvel Cinematic Universe. As a result, it’s not hyperbole to mention that a lot is resting on Brie Larson’s shoulders to bring the character to life and prove that there is a market for movies centered on badass women with badass powers.

Specifically, Brie told ComicBook “I feel a great responsibility. I have so many conversations with fans about the universe and this character in particular. I’m grateful for social media for that, actually – it’s such a great way to connect with people, to understand what it is they love about this character, what it is they hope to see. Where this character’s at in the comic books is such an inspiring space, right now. I’m so grateful to be part of it.”

Brie Larson can next to be seen in Kong: Skull Island which is due out next month.

Captain Marvel is set for release on March 8th 2019, but Brie Larson’s Carol Danvers is expected to make her big screen debut in next year’s Avengers: Infinity War.
