Serafini Productions and Shochiku have announced the release of their immersive psychological horror game, BrokenLore: Don’t Watch on Steam. A new, disturbing trailer (see below) has also been released showing the horrifying environment that players will experience.
BrokenLore: Don’t Watch is set mainly in a six-square-meter Tokyo apartment, where a young man has shut himself off from the outside world to escape the overwhelming societal pressures. As the young man isolates himself mentally, he experiences a state of extreme social withdrawal, becoming the embodiment of the hikikomori phenomenon.
Inspired by the Japanese mythical creature, a Hyakume (meaning “hundred eyes”), which is capable of dealing death to anyone who makes direct eye contact, players must avoid it’s gaze at crucial moments if they are to survive.
This psychological horror has been made in collaboration with a professional psychologist and focuses on themes of anxiety, isolation and the unyielding cycle of societal judgment. This title promises to deliver an artful and thought-provoking experience.
Features:
- An innovative mechanic where players will need to cover their eyes at crucial moments to survive.
- An engaging psychological horror story based on realistic fears.
- A blend of hyper-realistic and retro-style graphics.
- Experience an interconnected story within the expansive BrokenLore series universe.
- Challenges players at multiple levels with its layered storytelling.
BrokenLore: Don’t Watch is available on Steam now.
