Brutal rogue-lite survival horror Cyber Rats launches on Steam

October 28, 2025 by Andrew Newton

Being a lab rat is horrible enough as it is, but it’s even worse for the poor rats in Cyber Rats, the new rogue-lite survival horror game from Outpost Games. Explore a deadly maze for that all-important cheese, but watch out for the blood and gore. Watch the release trailer below…

With Cyber Rats, become a lab rat on a mission to find ten pieces of cheese hidden deep within a maze. Sounds simple enough, right? Nope, the maze is completely controlled by an AI with zero morality who has filled it with deadly traps and cyborg hunters that will hunt you and your fellow rats.

Start the game with three random rats, choose which one will attempt the run, and help them survive deadly procedural mazes for as long as possible. Be wary of traps and the cyborg hunters, which are former lab rats that failed the maze and have been made into abominations.  Successful runs will reward your rat with new colours and types of rats.

While exploring the maze, discover Upgrade Atoms that can be used to upgrade your rat after each run. There is also Life DNA to find that can be used to revive or replace dead rats.

Featuring:

  • Procedurally generated mazes with a dark atmosphere.
  • Plenty of blood and gore from traps and abominations.
  • Unlock more rat variations with each run.
  • Upgrade your rat with additional abilities, such as better eye sight, more stamina, and better reflexes.
  • Easy to learn controls.

Cyber Rats is available on Steam now, with a 15% discount until 3rd November.
