The Buffy the Vampire Slayer revival has added Kingston Vernes (Champ) to its cast alongside original star Sarah Michelle Gellar and the new Slayer Ryan Kiera Armstrong.
The revival has a pilot order for Hulu which is currently in production. Armstrong stars as Nova, an introverted high school student, while Gellar will reprise her iconic role as Buffy Summers as fate chooses a new Slayer to fight against the forces of darkness.
Vernes will play Carson, a Junior Olympian and popular student at New Sunnydale Academy who is the object of Nova’s (Armstrong) crush and starts noticing her after a life-changing event.
The cast will also feature Faly Rakotohavana (Unprisoned), Ava Jean (Law & Order: SVU) and Sarah Bock (Severance), Daniel Di Tomasso (Dynasty) and Jack Cutmore-Scott (Frasier).
Buffy the Vampire Slayer premiered in 1997 and ran for seven seasons, following Buffy as she attended high school and trained with her watcher Giles. Together with Giles and her friends, they protected their town of Sunnyvale and the world from vampires, demons, witches and other supernatural entities.
The revival has been developed by Academy Award winning Nomadland and Eternals director Chloé Zhao from a script written by Nora and Lilla Zuckerman (Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D, Poker Face). Zhao is directing the pilot.
