Channing Tatum announces Team Oscar contest

Channing Tatum (Magic Mike, 21 Jump Street) has announced “Team Oscar” during a satellite apperance on The Ellen DeGeneres Show.

Tatum and Oscar producers Neil Meron and Craig Zadan will pick the six winner of this year’s competition.  The winner will be flown out to attend the 86th annual Academy Awards, where they will get to give Oscar statuettes to the presenters on stage. Channing said this about the contest:

“It’s inspiring to see talented young people passionate about movies, and I’m excited to help shine a spotlght through Team Oscar”.

Team Oscar is open to U.S. college students and runs trough January 5th, 2014.   To enter contestants must visit The Academy’s Facebook page and submit a creative short video explaining how they plan to contribute to the future of movies.  Entrants will be asked to answer a brief essay question on a similar topic.

Ellen is set to host the 86th Academy Awards which will air on Sunday, March 2nd, 2014.
