Channing Tatum replaces Chris Evans in Project Artemis alongside Scarlett Johansson

July 18, 2022 by Gary Collinson

If you thought that Project Artemis would prove second time lucky for a reunion between Captain America and Avengers co-stars Chris Evans and Scarlett Johansson after scheduling issues prevented them from doing so on Ghosted, then we have some bad news for you…

Following last month’s departure of director Jason Bateman, a delay to production on the Apple Studios film has meant that scheduling conflicts have reared their head once more, with Evans forced to bow out of the project due to other commitments.

However, Apple has wasted little time in bringing in replacements for the departed duo, with Channing Tatum now on board as the male lead and TV producing powerhouse Greg Berlanti filling the vacant director’s chair for what will be his first feature since 2018’s Love, Simon.

Project Artemis has been written by Rose Gilroy (The Edge of Sleep) and while plot details are being kept under wraps, the film is said to be a romantic comedy taking place against the backdrop of the Apollo 11 moon launch.

Tatum is coming off a pair of hits in the comedy-drama Dog, which he also directed, and the romantic adventure movie The Lost City, where he starred alongside Sandra Bullock. He’s also recently wrapped production on Magic Mike’s Last Dance, and is currently shooting the Zoe Kravitz-directed Pussy Island.
